Prime Minister Mahmoud Shtayyeh met today with the British Consul General Philip Hall in Ramallah, where they discussed the latest political developments.
Shtayyeh reiterated during the meeting the Palestinian leadership’s position in rejection of all Israeli annexation plans, stressing the need to exert international pressure on Israel to prevent it from moving forward with its plan, which he stressed would destroy the two-state solution and undermine any chances to establish a Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders.
He stressed the need for a clear and formal response from Israel regarding dismissing its plans to annex parts of the Palestinian territories in order to start political dialogue under the umbrella of the international community and in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
Shtayyeh reiterated his call for Britain to recognize the state of Palestine on the pre1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital as a practical step to salvage the two-state solution.
