Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said, “When friendly Europe stands with us politically and economically, this is an important message for us and for the world. Europe had a clear stance against annexation, and in order to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
This came after the Italian Consul General Giuseppe Fidel announced today his country’s pledge to provide €9 million to support Palestine in favor of the Ministry of Social Development and the Public Prosecution by supporting juvenile centers, and the Ministry of Labor to strengthen the ministry’s role in respect of cooperatives, In the presence of Minister of Finance Shukri Bishara, Minister of Labor Nasri Abu Jaish, Attorney General Akram Al-Khatib, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development Daoud Al-Deek, and Chairman of the Cooperative Labor Authority Yusef Al-Turk.
“Without any doubt, we face great challenges, whether at the political, economic, developmental or health level. All matters overlap with each other, and our people are suffering from the occupation, and from the Corona pandemic, and there are losses resulting from our national economy that included all sectors, but we confirm our people are determined to reach their right to face the occupation, Coronavirus and the challenges it faces.” Shtayyeh added.
“ We thank Italy for this donation, and for us it is an important grant because it covers two aspects that constitute our priorities, the first priority and it is in favor of the Ministry of Social Development as well as the Public Prosecution, to provide support to juvenile centers which is very important matter, because juveniles are the future of youth, It is very important that we take care of them and give every effort to enhance their capabilities.
As for the second part of the donation is to strengthen and institutionalize cooperatives in the Ministry of Labor and the Cooperative Work Authority.” prime minister said.
For his part, the Italian Consul said, “Palestine is now going through very difficult circumstances, and this is time for Italy to show solidarity as part of the European Union with you, and to support efforts to build the Palestinian state despite all circumstances.”
