Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, said today that the national constants of the Palestinian people are the basis for any future solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and that national red lines cannot be crossed by any party.
“The national constants are the basis for any solution or progress on the course of the conflict. National red lines cannot be crossed by any party, and peace can only be achieved by respecting the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Palestinian constants, foremost of which is Jerusalem with its Islamic and Christian holy sites,” said Abu Rudeineh in a statement.
He continued, “The PLO and its historic and legitimate leadership will remain the only address for those who want to end the conflict and achieve a just and lasting peace.”
Abu Rudeineh added that “experience on the ground has proved that the only solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital with its holy sites. Any ideas, whether a state with temporary borders, an entity or a state with a lack of sovereignty, will not end the conflict but will lead to endless confrontations and wars.”
“The sacrifices and steadfastness of the Palestinian people on its land is a political reality, and Jerusalem is its permanent strategic choice. The PLO will continue to adhere to its commitments until the liberation of the Palestinian land and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
