A Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) official warned today of the consequences of the Israeli government’s unilateral decision to annex occupied Palestinian lands and its devastating effects on the security and stability of the region.
Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the PLO Executive Committee, told Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn during a telephone conversation that the Israeli occupation authorities continue to expand illegal settlements in the occupied territories without any deterrence while totally ignoring the many international resolutions related to the Palestinian issue.
He expressed appreciation for the European Union’s decision to provide a package of aid to the state of Palestine, which includes humanitarian assistance, in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Erekat’s conversation with Asselborn came after the European Union announced the provision of a package of aid to the Palestinians amounting to approximately 71 million euros to tackle the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine.
