President Mahmoud Abbas issued today a decree-law declaring the state of emergency in the State of Palestine for an additional 30 days.
The decree comes in the context of the nationwide measures to keep the COVID-19 outbreak under control, with at least 190 people reported dead from coronavirus across the country since the outbreak of the pandemic in early March.
Meanwhile, the President issued a decree-law enacting harsher punishment for those found guilty of assaulting public officials, especially judges, members of the public prosecution, members of the judicial police, and security personnel.
President Abbas also issued a decree-law increasing the punishment for some crimes set forth in the Law on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances.
