Forty-one Kuwaiti organizations yesterday called on the parliament to pass a law criminalizing normalization of relations with Israel.
The call was made in a joint statement issued by the non-governmental organizations, most notably the Lawyers Association, the Teachers Association, and the Kuwaiti Economic Association.
“We join our voice to that of the free Kuwaiti people by calling on the National Assembly (parliament) and the government to quickly pass the law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist enemy,” the organizations said in the statement.
The organizations stressed “the rejection of all forms of normalization with Israel or the signing of any peace agreement with it, whatever the reasons.”
They affirmed that they “reject all attempts that want to drag Kuwait into this stinking swamp, in line with the official and popular Kuwaiti position.”
They stressed their unwavering position to continue to reject and not recognize “this entity”- in reference to Israel- “until the liberation of Palestine”.
The statement referred to the Emir of Kuwait decree issued on June 6, 1967, still effective, which stipulates that “the State of Kuwait has been in a defensive war since this morning (the date of its issuance) with the Zionist gangs in occupied Palestine.”
The statement came on the heel of US President Donald Trump’s speech on the imminent normalization of Kuwait’s relations with Israel.
