Spanish politicians, members of the Spanish parliament, and former ministers today called on their government to reject the Israeli annexation of Palestinian territories, and to warn Israel that the annexation will not pass without serious consequences.
In a letter addressed to Spain’s Foreign Minister, Arancha González Laya, the politicians and lawmakers expressed grave concern about the Israeli annexation plan.
“We address you to express our grave concern about the Israeli annexation plan of the Palestinian lands in the West Bank,” they said.
They expressed support for the position of the European Union’s High Representative Josep Borrell, who warned Israel that the annexation will not go by without reprisal, stressing that the annexation is in violation of international law.
They stressed the need for the European Union and its member states to confront the annexation decision and called on the Spanish government to adopt the French position, clearly expressed at the United Nations Security Council meeting regarding the Israeli annexation and which warned that annexing any part of the Palestinian territories will have serious consequences for the relationship between France and Israel.
