President Mahmoud Abbas today stressed the importance of preserving and protecting Palestinian cultural heritage in all its forms because it represents “the foundations for safeguarding our Palestinian narrative and identity.”
In a telephone conversation with the Minister of Culture, Atef Abu Seif, on the occasion of celebrating registering Palestinian embroidery on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, President Abbas stressed that this should include “all the elements of our Palestinian heritage because we want our generations to cling to it and preserve it, as our mothers and fathers preserved it.”
The President made special reference to the young women who wore and paraded in the Palestinian national dress, the thoub, during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Culture yesterday for this occasion.
