The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today called on the US administration to meet its obligations and shoulder its responsibilities in the protection of the two-state solution.
The ministry in a statement condemned the Israeli West Jerusalem municipality’s Planning and Building Committee’s approval of a plan to build 730 new settlement units in the Pisgat Zeev settlement, built illegally on land belonging to Palestinian residents in the town of Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem.
The ministry stressed that Israel’s continued expropriation of Palestinian land in favor of its expansionist colonial settlement projects aims at undermining any chances for a resolution of the conflict based on the principles of the two-state solution, international law, and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The ministry added that Israel seeks through its ongoing seizure of Palestinian land to deepen the Judaization and Israelization of the city of Jerusalem to isolate it from its Palestinian surrounding, thus unilaterally determining the future of the city of Jerusalem by force.
The ministry slammed the Judaization and Israelization measures as null, illegitimate, and a blatant violation of international law.
It called on the international community and the US administration to take immediate action and the necessary practical measures to compel the occupying power, Israel, to stop its aggression against the occupied Palestinian territory, especially in the city of Jerusalem.
