Jordan today condemned Israeli plans to expand its illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories with the construction of thousands of new housing units.
Jordanian government spokesman, Daifallah al-Fayez, said Jordan rejects Israeli settlement policies in the occupied territories, which violate international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, considering them as illegal and rejected unilateral act that undermines the two-state solution.
He said Israel, as an occupying power, has an obligation to halt all settlement activities, whether they were construction or expansion or expropriation of land, calling on the international community to take decisive steps to pressure Israel to stop its activities that undermine efforts and chances of peace.
