The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned today in “the strongest terms” the announcement by Israel’s Minister of Defense, Naftali Bennett, yesterday of his approval to seize Palestinian land near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern West Bank city of Hebron for a settlement project.
Bennet decided to confiscate Palestinian land in the Old City of Hebron to construct a road for the illegal settlers to reach the mosque area, in addition to establishing an elevator for the settlers in what the ministry said is an attempt to change the Arab and Islamic character of the mosque.
It said Israel has used the coronavirus outbreak in order to implement this decision.
The Ministry said this decision and others related to the illegal settlements will be on the table of the International Criminal Court since it is considered a criminal act.
