Palestinian officials saluted today the Palestinian people on the occasion of Land Day, stressing that their steadfastness and sacrifices have protected their identity and heritage in Palestine.
Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh saluted on his Facebook page the Palestinian people on Land Day “who are steadfast on their land, firm on their rights, protective of their identity and the legacy of their ancestors rooted in this land,” and “who are foiling today the (American) ‘deal of the century’ just as they have over the years foiled all the conspiracies that have been plotted to terminate their rights.”
He stressed that his government’s main concern these days is protecting the Palestinian people and land from the deadly coronavirus outbreak, defend Palestine’s resources and confronting Israeli settlement activities.
Land Day marks the time when Israeli forces shot and killed six Palestinians in Arab towns inside Israel during protests on March 30, 1976 against Israeli expropriation of thousands of dunums of Palestinian land in the Upper Galilee in the north of the country.
