The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today urged the international community to immediately intervene to block Israeli plans to annex the occupied Palestinian territory known as the Jordan Valley before it is too late.
It strongly condemned in a statement a submission by the head of the Likud parliamentary bloc Mickey Zohar to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, of two draft bills, one to annex the Jordan Valley, the northern Dead Sea and the Hebron hills in the West Bank to Israel, which it said is the actual implementation of the so-called deal of the century, and the second to impose death penalty on Palestinians.
The ministry said it takes very seriously these two bills and their repercussions on the chances of achieving peace based on the two-state solution, and that it considers them fatal to the entire peace process.
