SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Saturday, February 23, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas arrived on Saturday in the resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt to participate in the First Arab-European Summit.
At the Presidential Hall at Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, the President was received by the Egyptian Minister of Local Development, Major General Mahmoud Shaarawi, and the Ambassador of Palestine to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Diab Al-Louh.
Secretary of the Executive Committee of the PLO, Saeb Erekat, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al Malki, and Advisor to the President for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Khalidi are accompanying President Abbas in the official visit.
Starting on Sunday, leaders and government heads of 28 European countries and 21 Arab states will be convening a two-day summit in Sharm el-Sheikh to discuss joint challenges and boost mutual cooperation opportunities.
This is the first ever platform that brings together the Arab and European heads of state and government to tackle the pressing issues, atop of which terrorism, organized crime and illegal immigration.
