Fatah Movement in Egypt commemorated Palestinian Prisoners’ Day with a special gathering in Cairo, bringing together freed Palestinian detainees exiled to the Egyptian capital and members of the movement’s local leadership.
The event began with a welcoming speech by freed prisoner Ahmad Islim, who expressed his appreciation for the presence of Fatah cadres in Egypt. He shared personal insights from his experience in Israeli prisons, emphasizing the prisoners’ steadfast belief in the inevitability of freedom and their unwavering commitment to the Palestinian national cause.
Dr. Mohammad Ghareeb, Secretary of Fatah in Egypt, highlighted the symbolic and emotional importance of the day, describing it as one of loyalty, solidarity, and honor for the prisoners’ movement. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of those who have suffered imprisonment and martyrdom, and stressed the importance of ongoing efforts at all levels to expose and challenge the Israeli occupation’s violations against Palestinian detainees and the wider population.
Also speaking at the event was Governor Ibrahim Abu Al-Naja, who addressed the current political landscape and the crucial need for national unity under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) — the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
The gathering featured a number of additional contributions from freed prisoners and movement members, reflecting on their experiences and reaffirming their dedication to the Palestinian struggle.
