Egypt and Qatar have reaffirmed their joint commitment to ending the war in Gaza and advancing Palestinian national reconciliation, emphasizing the urgency of a ceasefire and the need to rebuild the war-torn enclave.
The announcement came in a joint statement released following high-level talks in Doha between Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, according to a communiqué from the Egyptian Presidency.
Both leaders underscored the centrality of the Palestinian cause, describing it as the most pressing issue for the Arab world. They reiterated their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people—chief among them, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions and peace initiatives.
The two nations also expressed strong support for internal Palestinian reconciliation, highlighting the importance of uniting Palestinian factions to enable the effective functioning of state institutions and fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
In a show of solidarity, Egypt and Qatar reiterated their full backing for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. They welcomed plans to host an international conference in Cairo, in collaboration with regional and global partners, aimed at coordinating humanitarian assistance and long-term development strategies to improve living conditions in Gaza.
Expressing deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis and continued military escalation in Gaza, both sides stressed the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to reach an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
They also called for the swift and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, support for reconstruction projects, and comprehensive measures to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
