In response to statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he attacked President Mahmoud Abbas, the official presidential spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that President Abbas’s efforts are currently focused on stopping the barbaric Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and their holy places in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
“The priority now, above all, is to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people waged by Netanyahu and his government and not to engage in spats and trivial issues that do not deserve a response,” said Abu Rudeineh in a statement. “The whole world is watching the brutal massacres carried out by the Israeli occupation army in the Gaza Strip by targeting children, women, the elderly, hospitals and places of worship, in addition to the crimes of the occupation army and terrorist colonists in the West Bank and Jerusalem.”
He said that “Netanyahu’s statements since the beginning of the aggression prove that this government seeks to perpetuate its occupation of all the Palestinian territories, believing that the policy of genocide and killing brings security and stability, but we have always said that the only way to achieve peace and security is to recognize the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international legitimacy and international law and to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
The official presidential spokesman reiterated the need for the international community, especially the US administration, to respond to the calls made by President Abbas to stop the war of genocide against the Palestinian people, and to intervene immediately to stop the war crimes that violated international law and did not respect the resolutions of the international legitimacy.
He stressed that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian territory, just like Jerusalem, Ramallah, and the rest of the Palestinian territories, and the Palestinian people are the ones who decide their future and the future of the Palestinian territory in accordance with international legitimacy and not anyone else.
