President Mahmoud Abbas tonight received a phone call from his Finish counterpart Sauli Niinistö during which he briefed the Finnish President on the latest serious developments in the occupied Palestinian territory, especially in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, and to accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
The President stressed the need to stop the attacks of the occupation forces and terrorist colonists against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
He reiterated the State of Palestine’s categorical rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including Jerusalem, stressing the need for urgent intervention to release the Palestinian clearance funds held by Israel.
The President expressed his appreciation for Finland’s commitment to the two-state solution based on international legitimacy, highly appreciating the humanitarian aid provided through the Finnish Red Cross and the Palestinian Red Crescent, as well as development aid, in addition to what Finland provides to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
