Palestinian Presidency Sunday evening stressed that the Israeli occupation is the essence of terrorism.
Responding to Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s statements ruling out the establishment of a Palestinian state on the grounds that it would be a “terrorist state”, Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh stressed that “the occupation is the essence of terrorism” while explaining that Bennett’s statements are “rejected” and “express the colonialist ideology that rejects peace and stability.”
Abu Rudeineh stated: “The Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is a globally-recognized state and has been an observer member of the United Nations since November 29, 2012, and therefore it does not need Bennett’s approval or rejection because the Palestinian people do not give up their rights regardless of pressure.”
“True peace will not be achieved unless the Israeli occupation of our territories and holy places is ended,” he added while stressing that the Palestinian people would not give up their territories and inalienable rights.
He concluded that the road to peace and security would only be achieved through the roadmap drawn by President Mahmoud Abbas in his recent speech at the United Nations, in which he underscored the need to bring about comprehensive and just peace through ending the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the Palestinian state and made it clear that the Palestinian people would remain attached to their rights and uncompromising national principles.
