Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh affirmed today that the Arab Peace Initiative is the reference set by Arabs to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict, stressing that any retreat from this initiative is a weakening of the Arab-Palestinian position.
This came during a phone call with Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs, where Shtayyeh discussed implications of the normalization agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the Arab consensus regarding the Palestinian issue.
He called on Muscat to play a role in a constructive Arab dialogue in order to restore the Arab unity regarding various issues, particularly the Palestinian issue, and to develop a clear and joint Arab strategy to address these issues.
For his part, al-Said affirmed his country’s continued support to the Palestinian issue and rights, stating that the position of Oman and its Sultan is clear; “the Palestinian issue is our issue.”
