Under instruction of President Mahmoud Abbas, a Palestinian delegation from the Executive Committees of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Fatah Central Committee met today with the Lebanese President Michel Aoun to show Palestine’s solidarity with Lebanon following the port explosion.
The delegation conveyed the solidarity of President Abbas and the Palestinian people with Lebanon over the catastrophe after the Beirut port blast, placing the Palestinian capabilities at Lebanon’s disposal to overcome this ordeal.
Azzam al-Ahmad, PLO member, said during the meeting that they arrived as a Palestinian presidential delegation to convey to Lebanon and President Aoun Palestine’s solidarity with them.
“The president said that a phone call is not enough to express our solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people in this ordeal after the explosion,” he said in reference to the call President Abbas made to Aoun following the explosion.
“We are all hopeful that Lebanon will have the ability to recover and to reveal everything related to this explosion so that the Lebanese leadership takes the measures it deems appropriate,” he said.
