Two members of the Palestinian community in the United States and Algeria have died of the coronavirus disease, which raise the total of diaspora Palestinians who succumbed to the pandemic to 181, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
It said Ali Mahmoud Shaaban, 47, from Chicago in the US, has died of coronavirus yesterday raising the total of deaths among US Palestinians to 65, and Inshirah Khalil Mahdi, 74, has died in Algeria, raising the total there among members of the Palestinian community to two.
It said in a new tally of the deaths and new cases among diaspora Palestinians that with five new cases in the US and two in Algeria, the overall total of cases recorded so far has reached 3537, among them 1943 in the US, while 1523 have recovered.
The Ministry also said that 23 Palestinian students studying in Egyptian universities have left Palestine and arrived in Cairo, and a number of Palestinians have arrived in the West Bank returning from the US via Jordan.
