Nabil Boukili, Member of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium for the Workers’ Party, said Israel was preparing to annex Palestinian lands in the West Bank, which would exacerbate tensions throughout the region and lead to an end of peace based on a two-state solution.
In press remarks, he said, “At the end of the day, something must be done regarding the repeated violations of international law by the Israeli government.”
“There is no longer a peace process, and Belgium and the European Union have condemned Israeli colonialism and aggression for decades, but they are just words… and Israel continues to practice its policies,” he continued.
“What we need now are measures and sanctions, and the European Union, as Israel’s main trading partner, has the means to do so. In other words, we [the EU] still encourage impunity for Israel”.
