The Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Alkaila warmed today that after 25 new coronavirus cases were confirmed today in the West Bank and 39 yesterday a new and more serious wave of coronavirus has started.
“The second wave is more dangerous than the first one due to the discovery of several epidemic cases whose source is not known, in addition to the fact that medical and health staff working in hospitals have contracted the disease,” said the Minister in a statement.
As a result, it was decided to reopen several COVID-19 centers throughout the West Bank that have been closed following a sharp drop in the cases before the recent resurgence.
Health official stressed that while the previously imposed lockdown will not be reinstated, the public will be required to follow strict health protection measures, foremost wearing face masks and social distancing, among other requirements.
