The Palestinian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned today Israeli violations against Palestinian civilians and their property calling on the international community to end its silence toward these Israeli violations.
“The Ministry strong condemns the continuing Israeli violations against unarmed Palestinian civilians, their land, property and holy places the latest of which was the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque (in Hebron) for two days under the pretext of Jewish holidays and turning the surrounding area into a military encampment, forcing the Palestinian residents of the old city of Hebron to go through four military gates to get to their homes so that the settlers can storm and desecrate the Ibrahimi Mosque in order to perform their Jewish rituals,” it said in a statement.
The ministry also strongly condemned what it said was “the escalation of settler attacks on olive harvesters throughout the West Bank and its attempt to sabotage this national season and destroy it completely, in addition to the escalation in the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque under the pretext of holidays amidst calls by the so-called temple mount groups to hold rituals and prayers south of Al-Aqsa Mosque this evening. In addition to the criminal attacks on people’s vehicles, damaging their tires, throwing stones at them and writing racist slogans on cars as was the case this morning in the village of Deir Ammar, west of Ramallah.”
The Ministry added that it has “always warned against dealing with the ongoing violations of the occupation and its crimes as business as usual that do not require any serious stance from them.”
It said this attitude could have serious consequences that will lead the occupying power to continue to abuse the Palestinian people, violate their rights, continue to build settlements, escalate ethnic cleansing operations and commit massacres or mass displacement of Palestinian citizens.
The Foreign Minister called on the international community to end its silence on the crimes and violations of the Israeli occupation that encourages it to further abuse the Palestinian people and violate their rights while consolidating the occupation and settlements.
“This silence must end and international mechanisms should be activated to provide the international protection required for our people to face these continuing occupation crimes,” it said.
