President Mahmoud Abbas met prime minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven on the sideline of the of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
President Abbas briefed the Swedish prime minister on the latest political developments in light of the stalled peace process and the aggressive practices carried out by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, land, and Christian and Muslim holy sites.
Abbas praised Sweden’s initial positions toward the Palestinian people’s rights to freedom and independence, affirming his interest to promoting special bilateral relations between the two countries in the best interest of the two friendly peoples.
The meeting was attended by Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Ziad Abu Amer, Deputy Prime Minister, Riyad Al-Malki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Majdi al-Khaldi, Abbas’ adviser for diplomatic affairs, and Riyad Mansour, Palestine’s permanent representative to the UN.
