RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 27, 2019 (WAFA) – Fatah Central Committee recommended on Sunday in a meeting held in Ramallah headed by President Mahmoud Abbas the establishment of a new government from among the factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and independents.
It recommended forming a Fatah committee to start dialogue with other PLO factions on this matter.
The Central Committee also recommended freezing the implementation of the Social Security Law for a specific period of time while dialogue continues on this matter with all concerned parties.
It also welcomed the presidency of the State of Palestine of the Group of 77 and China in the United Nations General Assembly, pointing out that this achievement asserts the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and affirms the great international support for the Palestinian position that upholds to international legitimacy to end the occupation and establish the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to strengthening the status of the State of Palestine in the international arena.
Politically, the Fatah Central Committee reiterated the Palestinian position adhering to national constants, foremost of which are Jerusalem and the refugees; the achievement of a just and lasting peace based on international resolutions; and that there will be no Palestinian state without Jerusalem as its capital and no state without Gaza.
It stressed its position rejecting all suspicious projects and conspiracies aimed at the liquidating the Palestinian cause, and attempts by others to turn our national cause into an issue of humanitarian aid. It re-emphasized the need to confront these decisions that have to do with the national constants, especially the issues of Jerusalem and refugees, and the preservation of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) until the issue of refugees is resolved in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.
The Central Committee stressed that the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and the adherence of the President and leadership to our non-negotiable national rights will foil all conspiracies, pointing to the need to strengthen the Palestinian, Arab and international positions in support of our right to defend and preserve Jerusalem and its holy places.
The Central Committee condemned the serious Israeli escalation against our cities, villages and camps, and the continuation of the policy of killing and incursions, the last of which was the storming by the settlers of the village of al-Mughayir, which led to the murder of Hamdi al-Naasan and before him Riyad Shamasneh, Ayman Hamed and Ihab Abed from Gaza, holding the Israeli government fully responsible for the escalation that will create a dangerous and uncontrollable situation.
As for national reconciliation, the Central Committee reiterated its full commitment to the implementation of the provisions of the Cairo Agreement reached at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah on October 12, 2017 as a real entry point to achieve unity of our people and our land, while thanking Egypt for its efforts to end the division and achieve national unity.
It said Hamas should go along with the call of President Mahmoud Abbas to hold legislative elections as soon as possible so that the ballot box will reflect the will of the people and the Palestinian voters in electing their representative in the coming period and not to miss this opportunity to unite the Palestinian home in confronting the dangers facing our national cause.
The Fatah Central Committee confirmed its continued commitment to its organizational and national responsibilities towards our people in Gaza and to work toward alleviating their suffering caused by the continued Israeli siege imposed on them, as well as the catastrophic effects of the continuous coup by Hamas.
The Committee commended the steadfastness of our people and heroic prisoners in Israeli jails seeking to win their freedom and independence, calling on the international organizations and bodies to act immediately to put a stop to the attacks by the Israeli occupation authorities that led to the injury of dozens of our brave prisoners as a result of the denial of the prisons of their legitimate rights under international law.
