The ministerial committee charged by the Arab Islamic Summit with international action to stop the war on Gaza, headed by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, met today in Beijing with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The ministerial committee includes Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Malki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi, and Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha.
During the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister affirmed Beijing’s support for the call issued by the summit held last week in the Saudi capital Riyadh for a two-state solution in accordance with relevant international resolutions. He also called on the international community to take action to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister stressed the necessity of stopping Israel’s war on Gaza, an immediate ceasefire, and the importance of the immediate entry of relief personnel.
He stressed the importance of avoiding further killing of civilians, expressing his agony at the continued murder of large numbers of civilians and the continuation of the catastrophic humanitarian crisis. He called for effective international action to deal with the crisis and address all the ongoing violations by the Israeli occupation forces and their repeated violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
The Saudi minister expressed the Arab Islamic Committee’s appreciation for the Security Council resolution issued during the Chinese presidency regarding the crisis in Gaza, and said: “Despite this, we are still waiting for more efforts and more cooperation, and we aspire to cooperate with our friends in China and all countries that show responsibility and understand the seriousness of the situation to work to end the crisis in Gaza as quickly as possible.”
Malki said that the Ministerial Committee is talking today with China and with all the countries about the horrible crime committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, referring to the crimes of genocide committed by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
He said Israel is leading a war against the concept of the two-state solution, self-determination, freedom and independence, and the Palestinian presence on the land of the State of Palestine, noting that the occupation is committing all forms and types of crimes against the Palestinian people, the latest of which is cutting off water and electricity, preventing freedom of movement and decent living, and killing everything that moves in the Gaza Strip, and also the crimes committed against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The Ministerial Committee also discussed with the Chinese Foreign Minister the importance of the ceasefire, the targeting of defenseless civilians, and the violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces against innocent people and vital installations, including places of worship, hospitals, and relief and shelters.
The members of the Ministerial Committee stressed the importance of immediately stopping the military escalation and the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, and quickly bringing in the necessary humanitarian aid to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
They stressed the importance of the international community assuming its responsibility, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, to stop the blatant violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities and stop the violations of all international laws and norms and international humanitarian law, and their provocative practices that would obstruct the path of peace and threaten international peace and security.
