The European Union (EU) honored Today nine inspiring Palestinian women in various fields on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The nine Palestinian women were honored during a ceremony in Ramallah that was attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh, EU Representative to Palestine Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, Minister of National Economy Khaled Al-Aseeli, Minister of Women’s Affairs Amal Hamad, French Consul General in Jerusalem René Troccaz, and spokeswoman for the British Government for the East Middle and North Africa Rosie Diaz.
“When we hear such stories of successful women, it appears to us that there is still hope and joy despite all the challenges we face, especially for Palestinian women, and the obstacles they overcome in order to achieve success in all fields,” Shtayyeh said during the ceremony.
He thanked the EU for honoring the inspiring women in Palestine, stressing that the Palestinian government provides all support to Palestinian women and entrepreneurs, and backs women’s representation in all political, economic, and technological fields.
For his part, French Consul General in Jerusalem René Troccaz said that today is a celebration of women and their achievements in all fields, as well as a tribute to a group of inspiring Palestinian women, stressing the importance of empowering women in various political, economic fields and areas of life.
