Two Palestinian administrative detainees in Israel, Kayed Fasfous, and Mikdad Qawasme, have been on hunger strike, the first for 76 days and the second for 69 days, demanding their freedom, according to prisoners’ advocacy groups.
The two are among seven Palestinian administrative detainees who are currently on hunger strike in protest against their incarceration for long periods of time without charge or trial and demanding an end to their illegal detention.
The groups said Qawasme was transferred to a hospital in Israel following deterioration on his health, while Fasfous and three other hunger strikers are kept in Ramla prison clinic.
In addition to Fasfous and Qawasme, the other striking prisoners are Alaa Araj, on hunger strike for 51 days, Hisham Abu Hawwash, 43 days, Rayeq Bisharat, 38 days, Shadi Abu Aker, 35 days, and Hasan Shoukeh, nine days.
