The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, a local non-governmental organization which advocates for the rights of Palestinians in Israeli detention, has blamed Israeli occupation authorities for the detention of a Palestinian young man with COVID-19 in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.
Assem Jamil Shtayyeh, 27, who tested positive for COVID-19 on February 22, was detained last night by the Israeli occupation army during a raid on his family’s home in Nablus, north of the occupied West Bank.
According to Shtayyeh’s family, their son was still suffering moderate COVID-19 symptoms, and that he was still in isolation when he was arrested in middle of the night.
PPS urged the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross and all the competent international bodies to immediately intervene to release Shtayyeh, and to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to halt the systematic policy of daily arrests.
