In cooperation with the Palestinian Investment Promotion Agency (PIPA), the Ministry of National Economy (MoNE), and the Palestine Trade Center (PalTrade); the Embassy of the State of Palestine to the Russian Federation organized a Zoom meeting in which a considerable number of private sector and businessmen associations from both sides participated.
The meeting aimed at discussing the prospects for potential cooperation between the concerned parties.
Open remarks were made by Ambassador Abdul Hafeez Nofal, where he stressed the importance of consolidating Palestinian-Russian relations. Nofal Presented an overview of export sectors, the economic situation in Palestine in addition to providing some successful stories from Palestine.
He also suggested to convene the meeting of the Russian-Palestinian Committee in Palestine. Prior to the RPC, a preparatory delegation from Russia can visit Palestine in June to prepare and conduct field visits before the arrival of the official delegation.
In his turn, Arafat Asfour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestine Trade Center (PalTrade), briefed the meeting on the Palestinian economic situation from different perspectives including with regard to export sectors such as stones, marble, and dates.
He also expressed his wishes to complete the signing of the free trade agreement between the two parties in the course of this year.
Haitham Al-Wahidi, PIPA CEO, highlighted the importance of the meeting and advised to follow up on the outcome.
He shared important information about the state of the Palestinian economy and the agency’s readiness to cooperate with the Russian side in providing the needed logistical and technical data.
Businessmen between both sides also exchanged a number of ideas to enhance the potential for joint cooperation and at the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to hold a number of meetings between Palestinian businessmen and their counterparts from Russia (B2B) next April under the supervision of PIPA, MoNE and PalTrade.
