Japan’s new prime minister, Yoshihide Suga, today reaffirmed his country’s support for the two-state solution for the Palestinian–Israeli conflict.
This came in a letter from Suga to President Mahmoud Abbas in response to the latter congratulating Suga on assuming his new post as prime minister of Japan.
Suga affirmed Japan’s firm position regarding the importance of the Middle East peace process, its continuous support for the two-state solution and its ongoing efforts to provide political and economic assistance and support to achieve this goal.
The Japanese Prime Minister also stressed the importance of the Japanese-funded Corridor for Peace and Prosperity project and its pilot project, the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park, in the West Bank for their contribution to developing an independent Palestinian economy.
