Deputy Prime Minister and member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Ziad Abu Amr, today told United Nations Special Coordinator for the peace process, Nickolay Mladenov, that it is necessary to adhere to the Arab Peace Initiative to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Abu Amr, during a meeting with Mladenov at his Ramallah office, affirmed the Palestinian leadership’s position rejecting the normalization agreements by some Arab countries with the occupation state, Israel, at the expense of the Palestinian cause.
He briefed Mladenov on the latest developments, particularly with regard to the Palestinian efforts to end the internal division and unify the Palestinian ranks, which was recently expressed in the meeting of the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions, and the formation of the unified national leadership of the popular resistance in order to defend the rights of the Palestinian people and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The two sides also discussed the financial crisis facing the Palestinian government and ways to solve it.
