Senior United Nations diplomat and veteran Lakhdar Brahimi has voiced support for the right of the Palestinian people to fight the injustice they have been experiencing, including the US-backed Israeli annexation plan, by all means available to them.
In an open letter to former senior government leaders and officials and intellectuals and activists around the Arab world, the Algerian diplomat hailed the rejection of the Israeli annexation plan by the Palestinian leaders and the Palestinian people in the Occupied Territories, in Jerusalem, in Gaza, in Israel and in the Diaspora.
“We also support the right of the Palestinian people to fight against this unbearable injustice by all the means available to them. We support in particular BDS and call on the entire world to actively participate in it, as they did, with the success we know, against Apartheid, in South Africa,” Brahimi urged Arab leaders and intellectuals.
He added, “We can and we do state solemnly that we, as individuals, and as a group consider that these [Israeli] actions – which have already been condemned by the United Nations and by almost every single UN Member State – as illegal and unlawful. They are and shall remain null and void.”
“I am certain that we all share the same feelings of anger and helplessness, that we all see that what the Palestinian people are being subjected to is totally unjust, utterly unacceptable, and equally humiliating to them and to us.”
