Premier Mohammad Shtayyeh Wednesday evening warned that we were stepping into an extremely difficult phase if Israel annexes any parts of the occupied West Bank.
“We are stepping into an extremely difficult phase, and the ]Palestinian[ leadership will convene an important meeting on upcoming Saturday to confront Israel’s decision to annex and impose Israeli sovereignty over parts of the West Bank,” he stated.
Shtayyeh made his statements during a meeting with several Fatah Revolutionary Council members at his office in Ramallah.
He noted that President Mahmoud Abbas sent several letters to the Middle East Quartet, the European Union and Russia, urging them to convene an international conference based on international law and United Nations resolutions.
He touched upon Israel’s threats to take measures against Palestinians banks in the occupied territories that cash allowances for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails the families of others killed by Israeli forces and settlers.
He elaborated that set a special committee in place to be in charge of examining the Israeli threats against the banks which serve the families of prisoners, former prisoners and those killed by Israeli forces and settlers to find appropriate solutions for this issue, and pledged to safeguard the prisoners’ right and not to yield to Israeli pressures, no matter how strong they may be.
