The Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry Monday evening announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths among Palestinians in the diaspora has risen to 1,573 and 85 respectively.
The ministry said in a statement that there were 1,573 confirmed novel coronavirus cases, 85 fatalities and 744 recovery cases among Palestinians in the diaspora.
Providing more details, the ministry said that five more Palestinians tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the US, raising the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Palestinians in this country to 767, while the fatalities stood at 50 and 258 cases recovered.
The five new cases were identified as a case in Michigan, two others in Chicago and two others in Virginia.
In Denmark, an 80-year-old Palestinian died today due to the novel coronavirus, raising the fatalities among the Palestinian community to two. There were five confirmed cases among the Palestinian community, and all have recovered.
In Nicaragua, the family of three Palestinians in this Central American country has contracted the virus, including the case of a patient who was rushed to the intensive care unit, while a 72-year-old Palestinian expatriate and his Nicaraguan wife died due to the virus.
In Kuwait, 11 Palestinians in this Arab Gulf country tested positive for the virus, raising the total confirmed cases among the Palestinian community to 16, including three cases who remain in the in the intensive care unit. Nine Palestinian patients have recovered, while one died due to the virus in the country.
In Spain, two Palestinians tested positive for the virus, raising the total confirmed cases among the Palestinian community in this country to 35 since the outbreak of the pandemic, including 29 recovery cases. The total deaths among the community due to the virus stood at three.
In Qatar, 26 Palestinians contracted the virus, raising the total number of confirmed cases among the Palestinian community in this country to 153, including 47 recovery cases, one case in the intensive care unit, and 97 others that remain active.
