Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh met today with an Australian delegation that included parliamentarians and members of the Senate, where they discussed the latest political developments.
Shatyyeh stressed the need for creating a multilateral sponsorship for the peace process, after the United States lost its honest broker role in the peace process, stating that there must be clear terms of reference in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions and within a specific time frame to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
He said that the Palestinian people are continuing their struggle to achieve their basic rights of establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, the right to self-determination, the return of refugees.
He called on the countries of the world which believe in the two-state solution to expedite their recognition of the Palestinian state, because Israel, with the support of the United States, is working to eliminate any opportunity to establish a Palestinian state, especially through the expropriation and annexation of lands, to keep the Palestinians living in isolated islands in the West Bank, in addition to the continued blockade of the Gaza Strip.
