President Mahmoud Abbas met today in Riyadh with Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud during which he expressed his gratitude for the Kingdom’s support of the Palestinian people at all levels and for standing with the Palestinian people during their various stages of struggle since the time of the founding late king, Abdul Aziz Al Saud, until today.
The President affirmed that the Palestinian people and leadership stand with Saudi Arabia in facing and confronting terrorism against it.
For his part, King Salman renewed the Kingdom’s support for the Palestinian people and leadership, and offered all that is needed to support their efforts to achieve their legitimate rights and build their independent state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital based on the internationally recognized resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Prior to the meeting, King Salman held a working banquet in honor of President Abbas and his accompanying delegation who included Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the head the General Authority for Civil Affairs Hussein al-Sheikh, the head of the General Intelligence Service Maj. Gen. Majed Faraj, the president’s advisor for diplomatic affairs Majdi Al Khalidi, and Palestine’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia Bassam Al Agha.
