The Arab League today called on the international community to intervene to stop the Israeli aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
In a statement, Saeed Abu Ali, Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Palestine affairs and occupied Arab territories, urged the international community to provide the necessary international protection to the holy site and to apply the rules of international law and relevant international resolutions urgently.
He also called for putting an end to Israeli disregard for international legitimacy and international justice, adding that the absence of justice encourages the Israeli occupation to continue its crimes.
In remembrance of burning of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Abu Ali recalled the crime of burning the mosque, which was committed by a member of a Zionist gangs 50 years ago under the eyes and hearing of the Israeli occupation authorities.
“This heinous crime is still ongoing against the sacred places of the Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic nations in violation of the principles and norms of international law and a challenge to the will of the international community and the resolutions of international legitimacy,” Abu Ali said.
Abu Ali pointed to the continued implementation of Israeli plans to Judaize Jerusalem and the daily official systematic targeting of Jerusalem and Islamic and Christian holy sites, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque to change the existing legal status under American support.
