Palestinian Abdel Majid Abdel Hadi was sworn-in as the Chief Justice of the city of Patterson, New Jersey, making him the first Palestinian to reach this important post in the United States.
Abdel Hadi, originally from Deir Dibwan, in the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate in the central West Bank to the east of Ramallah, spent several years as a public prosecutor and then a city judge for five years before being appointed as the Chief Justice of the city of Patterson.
Mayor of Patterson, André Sayegh, expressed pride on his personal Face book page that Abdel Hadi was the first Palestinian-American to be appointed as a Chief Justice in the US, considering it a historic event.
