President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday arrived in Baghdad, on an official visit.
President Abbas met with his Iraqi counterpart Barham Saleh in Baghdad, where they discussed the current political development in the Palestinian cause, particularly the Israeli violations against Jerusalem, including al-Aqsa mosque, in addition to the bilateral relations between the both countries and the ways to strengthening it, Abbas reiterated his rejection to the so-called US ‘Deal of the Century’.
Abbas also met with Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, and briefed him on the violations of the Israeli occupation against Palestinian people.
For his part, the Iraqi president confirmed that the Palestinian cause will remain the central issue, and ‘we will continue to defend the rights of the Palestinian people’.
The president is accompanied by Head of the Palestinian General Intelligence Majed Faraj, Diplomatic Adviser Majdi al-Khalidi, and Economic Affairs Adviser Mohammad Mustafa.
